Bosasa Youth Development Centres are unique world class Child & Youth Care facilities that demonstrate their excellence through best practices in the field of Child and Youth Care. The BOSASA Youth Development Centres are nationally based Child & Youth Care Centres for children & youth in conflict with the law between the ages of 14 - 17. On an ahoc basis, children under the age of 14 years are referred to the BOSASA Youth Centres and in these cases special arrangements are made to accommodate them.

Since 1995, BOSASA Youth Development Centres has gained extensive experience in managing facilities for accommodation of young people in trouble with the law and assisting with their reintegration.

It can also be noted that previously all existing BOSASA facilities catered for boys under the age of 18 years; and it is in Limpopo Province (Polokwane) where BOSASA had to include 20 girls in the facility. Subsequently Provinces are realising that provision needs to be made for girls. The Eastern Cape, Northern Cape and North West Provinces have now also made provision to accommodate girls in these Child & Youth Care Centres. This opened a new door of opportunity and experiences to not only take care of boys awaiting trial, but also girls.
